About Marketing

Posted by glennpfoster Categories: Marketing

Here’s a little know fact – most people do not like to sell or be sold anything. Here’s another – Marketing is the the oxygen that business runs on.

Pretty heavy stuff huh?  OK, now that we cleared that up, let’s look a little deeper in to this so called ” Art of persuasion.”  I mean after all, is marketing a bad thing?.  A necessary evil?  No, of course not.  Marketing if done properly and effectively is the one thing that can propel a company’s success and make a product become a part of everyday life.

Billions of dollars are spent each year on marketing – don’t believe me, look around, it’s everywhere.  Not because it doesn’t produce revenue, on the contrary, because we need it, because without it, you’ve limited your chances of becoming bigger and better at what you do and at surviving in tough times.

Now, I’m not by any means suggesting that companies spend all of their hard earned money on marketing but, in each years budget, some money should be set aside for promoting your goods and services. There’s even a number of things that a company can do for little or no money that can boost sales but, please, please avoid being amateurish with your ads.

There’s so many potentially good companies out there that don’t see the value of professional marketing and have cheapened themselves with poor quality marketing attempts or ads.  Avoid having family members, friends and even volunteers create your company website unless they are in that profession, it takes at least two distinct set of skills to build a good website.  You need a creative person to design it and a technical gifted individual to make it work.  Rarely can you find both in the same person.

Bottom line, spend your marketing dollars wisely.  Recognize when too little is not enough and when it’s time to invest with a professional.  In the long run, it’s more affordable and measurable than you may think.
